This is my last and final post! I truly enjoyed this project and I’m glad I had the experience of having a blog of my own. It has helped me discover new talents, and I have had fun along the way.  I loved designing my blog, and reading my friend’s blogs as well. I really hope in the future I get to do other projects like the one we just completed. Not only is today the last day I will be writing in my blog, but it’s Valentine’s Day too!

Everybody had a good time today, no matter if they had a valentine’s or not. None of the teachers gave class today, and we were thrilled. I ate so much chocolate I felt sick later in the afternoon. Everybody gave each other a gift, big or small. Agatha gave Noelia and me the most beautiful frame, which held a photo of us three. I’m definitely going to find a special place for that frame. I bought two balloons for both of them, (Noelia and Agatha) which I gave to them in the morning. Later in the afternoon they both received the two roses I had bought for them, with a special message on the card. But By far the most exciting thing that happened to me all day happened at lunch time. A teacher suddenly came walking up to me and told me I had to go to the office. At first I thought I had done something wrong, but I couldn’t think of anything. When I walk in, my boyfriend is standing there with two huge balloons, and two bags filled with “Godiva” chocolates. I didn’t know what to say. I am really lucky to have such a great guy to spend valentines with, and two great friends that love me. Today was a good day…and I used to say I hated Valentine’s day!

Today didn’t go exactly how I expected it, but it wasn’t bad either. As my partner, Agatha and I waited all day for the “ceremony” to start, I grew more and more anxious. The day couldn’t have gone any slower. I was practically shaking with anticipation. But can you blame me? We worked really hard on our project, and we wanted a little recognition.

When it was finally time, we walked on over to the auditorium. We both sat down and waited. After they gave out the first awards (Those lousy certificates they give out to everyone for participating), they started to give out the “special” awards. I didn’t think we would get anything in this category, but we did. They gave me a small Beaker-shaped trophy with my name on it for having an original title on our project. It was a pleasant surprise, although I thought we were going to receive an award for our display’s design, rather than the title. It doesn’t matter though, at least we got something. When they started go give out the big prizes, I squeezed Agatha’s hand—well, more like her whole arm. Our category must have been the fourth or fifth to be announced, and as they gave out the fourth, then the third…and the second place my heart raced. When they finally gave out the first place it was a big disappointment. We didn’t even get a lousy fourth place trophy! I was mad. All of the judges complemented us while we were being evaluated, so we thought we had a chance. Our teacher said it was a great idea and that it had potential, but that the competition in our category was tough. As the ceremony ended we both got up—disappointed—only to hear our name’s on the loud speakers. We were going to regionals. I have never been so confused in my life. Apparently our project was good, and we have the grade (90+) to go to regionals. I guess the competition was really tight and that’s why we didn’t get a big shinny trophy. I still want one of those. Oh well, at least we have another chance to win, and this time were putting up a fight. I will have that trophy!

Everyone seems to love movies for some reason. I just don't get it. I have never been a big fan of movies. Sitting in front of a screen for 2-3 hours just doesn’t appeal to me. The only way I would sit down and watch a movie is if I have read about it or watched a trailer and find it truly interesting. Sometimes even when I want to see it, if the movie is too long I start to get anxious. I get the urge to get up and move around. I don't understand how some people can watch two, three, and even four movies in a row! I could never do that! I can barely sit through one. I need to have some type of physical activity. That’s why I rarely watch TV…it gets boring after a while. I don't know why I can't sit still through a movie. Every time I’m invited to a “Movie Night” the only reason I go is to see my friends. It really just depends on the mood I’m in. Sometimes I feel like watching a movie, and sometimes I don’t (which is most of the time). My boyfriend is the exact opposite. He is obsessed with movies! He often shows me trailers of the upcoming movies, or old ones I haven’t seen yet. Every time he asks me if I want to see a movie, I feel bad because my answer is always the same. It’s really weird, because I feel everyone else loves watching movies, and I’m the only weird one that doesn’t like it that much. Well, that's me...apparently I was born to be the “different” one.

Yesterday I got just what I needed. I went out with my girlfriends; talked, laughed...we all had a great time. In one of my older posts I talked about how I felt I was missing something, but didn't know what it was. Well, I just might have found it. I needed my friends. I needed a night were I could talk to them openly, and have fun just us girls. It was a good feeling; I hadn't had that in a while. Although the feeling hasn’t completely vanished, yesterday helped eliminate most of it.

I was overwhelmed with a vivid memory of my past friendships, and suddenly the feeling came back…that sweet, nurturing feeling that is the company of others, and good friends. That feeling that I relate so well to when I was little…my best friend was my life, and we had no secrets between us. Although my parents managed to sabotage some of my night they didn’t completely ruin it. Over the years I have learned to not let one little thing ruin my whole day. I guess my bad memory is useful in this situation because I usually forget later in the day what I was upset about, If someone manages to get a smile out of me. Although the night was short, all of us woke up the next morning tired, but satisfied. After a quick recall of what had happened the night before, each of us went our separate ways. One of the girls to volleyball game, the other to some sort of appointment, and myself well, to write the post you are reading now. Thanks girls, for making me feel truly happy again.

I am the queen of procrastination. I will get distracted with anything and everything that crosses my path. Sometimes I think I may have ADD or something. It’s just so hard to get started on my work. I always get my work done, but there comes a point during the week when I just don’t feel like doing anything. Everyone gets that feeling sometimes, right? Well, one of those days is today. I’m so tired I just want to sleep for like 3 days. And I won’t lie; it took me like 5 hours to start this post.

Putting that aside, today I encountered something that made me realize how ridiculously worried most people my age are about their future. This obsession to have the perfect grades and a thousand extracurricular activities is just going too far. One of my closest friends got upset about a certain grade today. She said that her parents would yell at her for not getting the highest grade. That’s ridiculous! She’s in like 12,000 clubs, plus she has a very serious condition which obviously affects her. I understand that having good grades is important, but it’s also exhausting. The fact that she didn’t get the best grade on that test doesn’t mean that she’s a bad student! She has so many things on her shoulders that she finds herself going to bed at 2 am almost every day. It’s not only bad for her health, but it affects her mood, and how she feels…which to me, is much more important than any insignificant grade. It annoys me to know that she puts herself through constant stress just to meet the expectations of her parents and teachers. We are kids God nabbit! Let us live free, let us be kids, and leave the stress for when were adults! It’s all about balance…what’s the most important thing in your life? Put that first, the rest is secondary...and never dare to change the order.

What makes you want to keep living? You know, the reason you wake up in the morning? Is it your responsibilities, your children or friends? Is it your job, thoughts of the future, a goal? I find it hard to rely on any of these for an answer. If we don't know what's to come, what makes us stick around and find out? Curiosity or faith? Do you have a reason or do you feel you have to live because you were put here? What keeps you going?
What makes you stay?

When I try to answer these questions truthfully and in depth, I can’t say I know what to say. I used to think I knew, but I’m not so shure if I can say I know anymore. Lately I’ve been feeling a little “out of it”. I’m getting tired of the same things… eating, sleeping, studying—it’s a routine every day. I need excitement, surprises…Like when we were little, everything was an adventure, and there was always something new to discover. I feel like I’m missing something. It’s not material, but something inside me that I can’t quite define. It’s like I need something to keep myself going. Motivation, inspiration…? I don’t know. I just wonder what it is that keeps some people so happy and jumpy every day. I think it's love that's keeping me alive. Everyday life is just getting more and more boring to me. Do you ever get that feeling, or is it just me? Is it permanent, or is it just a phase? Do you ever feel like you're running out of soul?

I used to be quite the athlete if I may say so myself. Well, I may not have been the fastest runner in the world back in the day, but I was proud of myself. When I was going through "the awkward stage" which was around 7th or 8th grade, I used to run on the school's track team. I didn’t really have a category, since our team was really small and I had to run in races that concentrated both on speed, and resistance. I was significantly better in the resistance races rather than speed, since I'm not really that fast (My coach would differ). Most of the girls are always good at sports like volleyball or soccer, but I obviously had to be the awkward one that no matter how hard she tried could never be good at either. It doesn't matter anymore, but when I was younger it was kind of a big deal since all of my friends--and I mean A-L-L of them--played volleyball. It gets frustrating after a while to have to sit on the damn bench all the time.

Sadly, today I realized something that triggered that memory I just shared with you. In gym class, as we were suffering from one of our teacher’s famous “that’s going to hurt in the morning” exercises; I realized my stamina wasn't quite what it used to be. As the class went on, our teacher put us through a series of speed tests. After almost breaking my foot while running, (Because it’s no surprise that awkward me would trip while running and have to do the test again) I felt exhausted. I have always known I'm lazy, but I guess I had never really realized how lazy I was until today. Well, the truth is that if it weren’t for gym class I wouldn't exercise a day in my life. So today I decided that I’m going to wake up at five in the morning every day and run for an hour! Hah, I almost believed that myself. My “sleeping schedule” would never make this possible. I’m just going to start switching hands every time I want to change the channel so my arms are equally toned. Actually…That isn’t going to work either because I rarely watch TV…or change the channel. Oh well, I’ll just embrace being slow until I really need to start exercising when I’m older.
Thank god for my high metabolism!

Most girls have the same dream...To find that one prince charming we all read about in the fairytale's when we were little. To all those girls, wake the hell up; he doesn't exist.  Seriously, some girls need to get it together. If they keep waiting for "their prince" they're going to die alone (Or with 72 cats). Why do we expect men to be perfect, when we are just as imperfect--and sometimes even worse? Even though we will not find the perfect man, we can certainly find our perfect match.

I've always known us women can’t ask much of men (This may sound feminist, but they can't deny it). But I never thought I would come across such abhorrences, such men that are better defined as low-lives--as my grandfather used to say--or bluntly, A-holes (I hope I don't get points off for writing that). Anyway, growing up it shocked me that there would be so many around me. Naturally, I eventually developed feelings for some of them. I wouldn’t exactly call it love, but it was something of that nature. Most of them, in their quest to take advantage of me, (Which I would like to clarify was not successful) they slowly broke my spirits--and my heart--with their actions. Most boys at this age have little to no values at all. They don’t seem to care if they hurt the girl they lied to, took advantage of, humiliated, and then threw out like a piece of garbage. Of course, I’m glad to say there are exceptions. Though you might think I’m too young to know what love is, I believe I may have gotten a glimpse of it at this young age. It was a shock, really. I have beaten all the odds you could ever imagine. What would a 22 year old boy—or man, in this case—possibly want with me? A question not only I made myself, but my parents as well. Surprisingly it’s not what you’re thinking. Through the course of a year he proved his intentions were pure, and I’m glad they were. My parents learned to accept him, and as of right now we’re both very happy. We’re more like best friends, really. Some might think otherwise when they know his age, but I don’t care. Age is a superficial matter when you come to think of it. The most important thing—along with maturity and respect—is the existence of true and pure love between the two. Despite my age, I believe I am amongst the lucky few who have truly obtained it.

My life would be SO much easier if I had a car! My parents seem to hate taking me to places, because it's such of a hassle for them. I used to hang out with my friends more often, and go out every Friday when I was younger--but not anymore. They always want to pick me up really early, because my mom always stays awake waiting for me to come back (Because she has to pick me up, obviously.)

I'm even willing to help around the house! I could go buy the groceries, and even run some errands for my mom and dad. My mom is terrified at the thought of me having a car but, I'm not a bad driver! I drive to school every day, and I haven't run over anyone yet. All that's left for me to learn is how to parallel park, and park in reverse. I'll be able to get my license in less than a month, and when I learn how to park, I'm going to get my license even if I have to push them there. My dad said I could have mom's car, but later on. They even said I would get it when I go into college! That's ridiculous. If they do that they're going to find a random car in their parking space--And it's going to be mine. I did that with an ear piercing and they seemed to accept it. My dad even liked it. I really hope I get that car when I get my license.
I want to feel more independent!

Post #6: Sleeping dissorder? eating dissorder? It cant be...

8 hours of sleep isn't even close to what I need to be able to wake up refreshed the next day. Not getting enough sleep affects our body, and I have been noticing it in many ways. During the week I get up at 6 am to go to school, and come back home at 2--sometimes 3--to do my homework. Sometimes I have so much homework or tests the next day that I don't have enough time to do anything else! I'm usually so tired that I take a nap and wake up around 7. I usually go to sleep at ten, and it shure isn't enough for me. It affects my performance in school, my mood, and my digestive system.

When I don't get enough sleep I often feel depressed and lazy, and that's not healthy at all. Most of all, I don't eat as well when I don't sleep as much. I'm very close to being underweight--if I'm not already. I have tried to gain weight, and it seems so impossible to me! Some people have told me that I'm fine, that I shouldn't try to change myself, and that the weight will come with the years, but I just don't feel healthy. Sometimes I don't eat well for days, and sometimes I eat everything in sight. Most of the time I just eat to calm my hunger, but I don't enjoy it. For most people their constant battle is to lose weight, but gaining it is just as hard...(My metabolism is unusually high for my age.) I constantly lose, gain, and lose weight again. I went to a psycologist once that said it could be due to depression...but I don't think so. Or maybe I'm just in denial...

Linda wanted to say hello!
My dog is my life, and I don't know what I would do without her. I have a sister, but we are not very close because she's from my dad's previous marriage, and she lives in New York. So basically, I have been alone all my life--until I got my beautiful dog, Linda. Nothing can compare to my love for her...she's like my sister. I remember when I got her, I was in first grade, and I couldn't have been happier. My parents brought her to school on my birthday...I almost fainted. She was just what I wanted! I truly believe we share something special...a bond that not many people share with their own pets.

Lately she's been acting strange. She started "wetting the bed" and I'm a little worried. Linda looks cute in her new pampers though. She has also been spraining her left paw unusually frequently. She used to be a very playful dog, and lately she's just been down. The good thing is that at least we know its not worms, because we give her a pill for that every month. My mom took her to the vet, and they're going to do a few tests on her to see if everything is in working order. Linda is nine years old in human years now. (I never did understand the whole dog/human years thing.) It breaks my heart to see that my dog is getting old, and I don't want to see her go. I just can't except the fact that one day she won't be there anymore. I hope she lasts me many years, because I know that when I lose her, It's going hurt as if it has been my own mother that has passed away.
She likes to harass me from time to time.
Photogenic, isn't she?

People around you should just have nothing to say. Dealing with judgements and comments every day is not an easy thing to do. No matter how many times I ignore them, and repeat "Its just envy, be the bigger person" in my head--which is the classic line for situations like these--when you get to the millionth time you just don't believe it anymore. People really just can't keep it to themselves. It has happened to all of us at one point, but after three years of constant abuse, I just can't take it.

I consider myself to be quite different from my other classmates, and even my friends. Most of my interests are ones that most girls wouldn't find amusing, such as riding my longboard, playing video games, hacking phones, and most of all, my music interests. Most people I know have told me that they would never have thought I listened to rap and techno rather than any other thing. I am extremely open-minded and non-judgemental, and I can't stand people who are. I'm different, and that's what I like the most about myself. I have made my mistakes throughout the years, but who hasn't? Forgiveness does not exist between my classmates. Only anger and revenge. I shouldn't have to put up with the constant psychological aggression I have been receiving from some of my classmates for the last three years. Hell, they don't care if it affects me or not. I've confronted some of my classmates, and none of them have had the decency of asking for forgiveness. I don't like to call it bullying, because I feel it makes me sound like a victim--even though in this case I am-- I don't like it. I've asked to change schools, but my parents said I should stay and be tortured until I kill someone. Well, that might not have been their exact words, but that's how it felt. They said I should stay and show them it doesn't affect me, and not run away from my problems. Even though I don't agree, I had no other choice. I'm still dealing with this problem, and I believe It has made me who I am. This is reality, and I can't change it...I just hope I never reach my breaking point.

Post #3: Baby steps...Into the future

My Third post! Now my page looks like it's getting somewhere. Ok not really, but soon it will.

So here's the thing...I have no idea what I'm going to do with my life. I'm REALLY tired of this subject but I noticed something today that might be the solution to my indecisiveness. All my life I have been followed by a horrible thing--an unspeakable dreadfulness--which I have never been able to understand. What is it, you ask? Well they call it Mathematics, and to me it's as complicated as it sounds. I fall into a pit of horrible, blistering darkness every time I have to answer a math question. I can't stand it. I've tried to understand it, and I've had multiple tutors which I used to change from time to time because they all grew tired and became frustrated at my slow understanding of the horrible subject. Luckily, I found one that works for me now and has moderate patience. Let's hope it lasts.

My mom has always wanted me to become a doctor. My cousins are doctors...my doctors are doctors...I don't need to be surrounded my more doctors, and much less become one. She just doesn't seem to understand that even if I wanted to, I see it quite impossible. I did consider medicine, and I came to the conclusion that if I was going to go down that road, I was going to be a Pathologist. That dream vanished when I learned that I had to study 13+ years, and obviously it takes A LOT of math. So then I thought "Hey, well I love working with computers and other technological stuff, why not become a computer engineer?" My last math test answered that question for me. All this went on for a while. I considered being an Architect, a Veterinarian, going into the NASA, and even the Air Force. All of these were somehow discarded for different reasons. My dad has always said I should consider something more on the creative side, like becoming a Journalist. I always told him that I found it boring...Until now. I've only written 3 posts, and I already can't wait for the days to pass, so I can write the next one. I enjoy writing about things that interest me, and being able to express myself freely. Maybe Journalism is the career for me, maybe it's not...but for now its a start. I'm still working on defining myself, and I'm glad I have this project to experiment on and practice. I feel I'm getting a little closer to my goal, and it's all thanks to this blog.

I've always tried to be the best person I can when it comes to friendships. It's such a delicate thing, a friendship...and yet It can be so harsh at times. Most of the time I don't notice the people closest to me are doing the most harm. I remember when I was in the the 7th grade...or maybe it was 8th...or maybe a little before. (Yes, I know I have the memory of a 70 year old woman) Either way, they were happy days. I had a best friend of course. I had many friends...Friends I could trust. We were all so innocent, and had no intentions of hurting each other. All this changed so quickly, through the course of a few years. I will refrain from mentioning any names; just to protect myself from wandering eyes and mouths. Whoever knows me well knows this story, and they know well that every time I speak of it--and now, well, write it-- it makes my eyes water.

The first character in the story I call life, we'll call "A." She was an odd one when I first met her, but I came to like her later on. We became best friends as fast as I can remember things... Which judging on how bad my memory is, was a long process. We eventually became really close, all three of us. When I say three, I mean "A", myself, and our second character who I will call "B." We were like the three musketeers wandering through life together. Every day it seemed we spent every second of the day together. There were a few more girls in our group, maybe two or three more, but none of them are worth mentioning. I thought I had found all the people I needed in my life...but was I wrong. Years passed and as more and more of my friends changed schools, eventually I was down to two, two true friends--or so I thought. As we grew up we started noticing how different we were. "A" was more like me, we could relate a little better. "B" on the other hand, was a grumpy, independent little girl, and she still is today. Naturally problems started to arise, which forced me to end the relationship with both "A" and "B". These problems were a bit more complicated than just plain gossiping. It involved my parents as well... I felt I had been lied to all these years. And to make matters worse, I was alone. A few months after all this, I found out "A" had moved away... to another country. Forever. At that moment I could only wish I had spent her last days in Puerto Rico with her. "B" is still roaming around the school and I sometimes have short, meaningless conversations with her...but nothing more. I remained alone until this year, having a very limited amount of shallow friendships. Somehow I survived, and I slowly developed two new friendships which I can only brag about. Come to think of it...Its my own fault. I can only blame myself for being so shy, and limiting myself a few years back from developing new friendships. I remember my mom said once not to do that...and guess what? I had to learn the hard way.
After all, I'm a teenager right?

Greetings humans. As of today, I will begin to share my thoughts and feelings with the outside world. I am creating this blog as part of my English class. I have never had a blog--but I always wanted to--so this should be a good start. I will be talking about my life and some of the teenage problems I have encountered throughout it. I hope other teenagers such as myself can relate and feel at home when reading my blog, so through it I can help them through the struggle that are the teenage years. (Which suck.)

Let's start at the beginning...My first year of high school.
Shure, you might think "She's in 9th grade, what problems could she have?" Of course maybe they were not life threatening situations, but they did have some sort of impact in my life. The most common problem at that age, and one of my most stressful situations were related to my Acne. Oh, how I despise that word. That word had a heavy impact on my self esteem--and not to mention my face. Luckily, I never had cysts or any other serious skin condition of that nature, but I did have zits in abundance. You could probably connect the dots on my face when I received "the monthly gift" which was when my faced transformed into a pizza. Naturally, at this age other students would tease me and make nasty comments which hurt me, but they didn't notice; and neither did I...until later in my life. I started becoming more aware of my appearance, and somewhat disgusted by it. I remember crying a few times in front of the mirror, frustrated at the fact that I had tried every single acne treatment and home remedy possible. I sometimes tried covering them with makeup, but that just led to more comments. "Oh don't worry honey, it's an age thing. They'll be gone before you know it". My mom kept repeating those same words over and over again, thinking they would make me feel better. It helped a little, but I didn't want moral support, I wanted a solution. After 1,000,000,000 visits to my dermatologist, last year they finally decided to give me a prescription for something that actually works. My mom hesitated a little when the dermatologist said they were pills instead of topical treatments, but obviously I convinced her. (I was willing to try anything at this point.) After one month of taking the prescription, I could finally see my face under all the pimples. It was the best feeling in the world to finally rid myself of that horrible curse. (Yes, it was that bad.) They still come back sometimes, but it is much less that it was in those days. I'm happy with my face now, and finding a solution to that problem has helped my social skills, and not to mention my self-esteem.
